EDAM Chairperson Ambassador (R) Tacan İldem, in his assessment for T24, examined whether Europe’s search for a new security architecture, amid deepening transatlantic divergences, could create a new window of opportunity for Türkiye. He underscored that efforts to strengthen Europe’s defence capacity while advancing within a framework that excludes Türkiye would constitute a strategic contradiction, and stressed that steps by Türkiye in the areas of democratization and the rule of law could help secure a stronger place for the country within Europe’s evolving security architecture.
